Two years ago I had the opportunity to meet Dale Ballard, who was the Manager of Carlsbad Irrigation District, in Carlsbad, New Mexico. We had a conversation about seepage problems in concrete-lined canals. They were having problems with the canal seeping onto the grower’s field adjacent to one of their lined canals that was damaging the crop in the field. The district had made several attempts to resolve the problem including pouring a new lining inside of the one that was leaking.
Dale was able to get board approval to make a budget adjustment to fund the 2018 portion of the project and then applied for and received a grant to fund the 2019 portion that was done this spring. The farmer whose field was adjacent to the canal has received substantial relief from the seepage after the AquaLastic application.
These are the outcomes.
